Question 1

Is repairing PDFs really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usage is completely free. No registration is required, there are no hidden costs, and PDFs are created without watermarks. More information can be found here: ilovepdf.com/help/security

Question 2

Are my files stored after upload or deleted automatically?

Accepted Answer

All files you upload are protected throughout the entire process. They are used exclusively to create your desired output file (e.g. PDF file), and all data is always transmitted encrypted.

If you do not delete them manually, the system will automatically and permanently delete your files after a maximum of 2 hours. Access by third parties is thus excluded. There is no permanent storage. More information can be found here: ilovepdf.com/help/legal

Question 3

Does adding page numbers affect the quality of my PDF?

Accepted Answer

No. The original quality is preserved because the pages are not re-rendered. Only the page numbers are added as an additional layer without changing images, text, or layout. As a result, your PDF remains visually identical, including sharpness, colors, and resolution.

Question 4

Why is my PDF larger or smaller after numbering?

Accepted Answer

Typically, the file size barely changes. Depending on the complexity of the PDF, a minimal increase may occur because an additional text layer is added. If your PDF is very large, you can compress it directly after numbering. ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf.

Question 7

Are there limits on file size or number of pages?

Accepted Answer

Free users can use PDFs up to 100 MB. You can also upload and process two PDFs simultaneously. With a Premium account, the limit is 4 GB file size, and you can process up to 10 PDFs at once. The number of pages is unlimited; you can even number thousands of pages at once.

Question 8

Are bookmarks, hyperlinks, and PDF structure changed by numbering?

Accepted Answer

No. The internal PDF structures remain unchanged: hyperlinks, table of contents, bookmarks, and form fields all continue to work. The tool only affects the top text layer without altering the actual content.
