Question 1

Is deleting PDFs really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usage is completely free. No registration is required, there are no hidden fees and PDFs are created without watermarks. More information can be found here: ilovepdf.com/help/security

Question 2

Is my data safe and GDPR compliant (General Data Protection Regulation)?

Accepted Answer

All files you upload are protected throughout the entire process. They are used exclusively to create your requested output file (e.g. PDF file), and all data is always transmitted encrypted.

If you do not remove them manually, the system will automatically and permanently delete your files after a maximum of 2 hours. Access by third parties is thereby excluded. There is no permanent storage. More information can be found here: ilovepdf.com/help/legal

Question 3

Can I select and delete page ranges, e.g. 1 - 6 or 11 - 19?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can select a single page or multiple pages or page ranges and remove them in one step from the PDF. You can select everything flexibly: single pages, multiple pages, or entire page ranges (e.g. 1-6), also combined. Ideal for large PDFs like reports, e-books, seminar materials, multiple invoices in one file, and much more.

Question 4

Does this also work with large or very long PDFs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Even extensive PDFs with many pages can be edited.

Question 5

Why can't I delete individual pages from certain PDFs?

Accepted Answer

Here you will find the most common reasons, based on daily user problems and technical limitations:

1. Damaged or faulty PDF file
Most common reason for users: The PDF structure is damaged or corrupted.
Typical errors: missing objects, invalid syntax, broken xref table.

2. Incorrectly created or "combined" PDF
Some PDF software or online tools produce faulty or incomplete files that cannot be split.

3. PDF is password protected
If a document is password-protected (opening or editing), it cannot be split until the protection is removed.

4. Unusually complex PDF structures
PDFs with rare object formats, nested layers, or special features can block splitting.

5. PDF consists only of images (scanned PDF)
Image-only PDFs can be split, but the file remains large and it often appears as if "nothing changed" because no real text objects exist.

6. Digital signatures or certificates
A signed PDF cannot be modified without invalidating the signature. When splitting, the signature is automatically "broken".

7. Extremely large files (many pages, large images)
Very large PDFs can cause memory issues, timeouts, or interruptions during splitting or deleting.

Question 6

Does deleting individual pages also work on mobile, Mac, and Windows?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can use the mobile app on your phone for free at ilovepdf.com/mobile (iOS / Android). The tool also works directly in your phone’s and tablet’s internet browser.

Another option is to edit your documents offline , meaning not through the online service but locally on your device. This option is available for Mac and Windows: ilovepdf.com/desktop Additionally, you can download the iLovePDF app from the Microsoft Store.

Large PDFs can also be edited (limit 100 MB). If you encounter the limit with very large files, it is recommended to compress the file in advance (ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf) or remove unnecessary parts beforehand (ilovepdf.com/organize-pdf).

Question 7

Can I undo the deletion?

Accepted Answer

No. Once you save the edited PDF, the deleted pages cannot be recovered. If you are unsure, save a copy of the original PDF beforehand.
