iLovePDF Adds Multiple Windows on iPad and iPhone Duo

iLovePDF’s Multiple windows update lets users open separate PDFs in separate windows on iPad and iPhone Duo. Two documents can stay visible side by side for reading, reviewing, and editing.

Each window keeps its own document and reading position. This lets you check a revised contract against an earlier version or keep instructions visible beside a form. Closing one window leaves the others open.

Open two PDFs on iPad

Update iLovePDF from the App Store before starting. Windowed Apps requires iPadOS 26 or later.

  1. Open Settings, select Multitasking & Gestures, and choose Windowed Apps.
  2. Open iLovePDF and load your first PDF.
  3. Open a second iLovePDF window and load a different PDF.
  4. Drag a window’s corner to resize it, or use the window controls to arrange the documents side by side.

On iPad, windows can also sit beside other apps, such as Files. Apple’s iPad multitasking guide explains how to open, resize, and arrange app windows.

Open two PDFs on iPhone Duo

  1. Update iLovePDF from the App Store.
  2. Unfold iPhone Duo and open iLovePDF.
  3. Open your first PDF, then open a second iLovePDF window beside it.
  4. Load a different PDF in the second window.

The two windows each occupy half of the inner display. Unlike on iPad, this layout uses a fixed equal split.

What the update does not include

This release supports iPad and iPhone Duo, not other iPhone models or Android devices. It does not support dragging pages or content between windows.

Viewing PDFs together does not combine them into one document. To put pages from both files into a single PDF, use Merge PDF.
